The Cuban Embassy

The Cuban Embassy

The Cuban Embassy in Moseley is already well known for its impressive selection of rums and live salsa music.

Now the popular cocktail bar and South American restaurant is introducing a new menu to add even more Latin flavour to your evenings.

From Mexico to Moseley – New husband and wife chef duo

After successfully managing restaurants in the Gulf of Mexico for many years, husband and wife team Xabier and Jude are now bringing authentic creole inspired cooking to the suburbs of Birmingham.

The couple have moved into the Cuban Embassy’s kitchen and their new menu promises to serve freshly prepared Cuban botanas (tapas style dishes) made with only the best ingredients - guaranteed to make your mouth water.

Botanas – The new tapas?

Whether you’re a meat eater, fish lover or a vegetarian, there is a botana for everyone.

For those of you already familiar with Latin American street food you’ll find classic dishes such as quesadillas and tacos on offer.

If you’re a seafood lover, you’re in for a treat with the new menu offering a variety of seafood botanas, including Camarones Enchipotlados (flash-grilled prawns in a smoky Mexican sauce).

You’ll also find Minilla (slow cooked fish in a smoky Cuban sauce), or the more classic Coctel de Camarones (prawn cocktail).

Their daily specials also give you the chance to try something new, whether it be their speciality squid or octopus.

As well as the excellent selection of fresh fish and seafood botanas, diners will also be able to choose from tempting meat dishes such as Buena Vista (pulled pork with tomatoes, onions, peppers and raisons).

The menu also has plenty of vegetarian options including Papas a la Cubana (pan-fried mushrooms and potatoes).

Spoilt for choice?

Botanas are small tapas size dishes giving you the chance to try out different food and get a real flavour for authentic Latin American cuisine.

And with botanas starting at £5, you can indulge in traditional Latin American food without breaking the bank.
