Original Patty Men plan to open bar and bakery

Digbeth favourite, Original Patty Men, are looking to expand their successful burger restaurant by adding a bar and bakery to their repertoire.

Original Patty Men, which is located under the railway arches in Digbeth, is so successful that many queue for over an hour just to get a seat in the tiny, 33-seater restaurant.

Once the food has arrived, diners are limited to 45 minutes on the table, which shows just how busy and popular Original Patty Men have become since owners Tom Maher and Scott O'Byrne started the business as a street food stall at Digbeth Dining Club.

The best in Brum?

Many believe their burgers to be the best in Birmingham, and they serve up unique toppings, including maple coated bacon, lime and ginger slaw, and sriracha mayo.

In the Autumn the owners plan to open a new bar, Patty Men Extra, so that diners can have a drink whilst waiting for a table to become available. They will be serving craft beers, a small range of cocktails and light snacks, so Patty Men Extra will give customers another reason to head down to Digbeth.

One of the owners, Tom Maher (above, right), explained:

"We hope to create a system where you can take a number, have a drink next door and we will ping you on your phone when the table is free."

But that's not all.

Original Patty Men are also hoping to open a bakery to make their own burger buns, which will make the popular burger hotspot almost entirey self-sufficient.

And if you thought it couldn't get any better, Orignal Patty Men will also be open another day, from Wednesday to Sunday.

Though the details are not yet confirmed, this looks like an exciting expansion that every burger fan in Birmingham will be looking forward to.
