Indico Street Kitchen & Bar

16 November 2016

Indico Street Kitchen and Bar is a new restaurant bringing the colour and flavour of Indian street food to the suburbs of Shirley, Solihull.

Located at Parkgate Shopping Centre on Stratford Road, the new venue is like a scene from lively Bollywood movie Monsoon Wedding.

The restaurant is set over two floors with a mezzanine level and bar area seating 140.

The walls are adorned with pop art and the ceiling is covered with a multitude of colourful umbrellas.

Hand painted pieces by artists from around the world depict the vibrancy of Indian street life.

In the corner is the open kitchen in sunshine yellow, built in the shape of a wagon.

It really is a feast for the senses.

On the menu at Indico Street Kitchen

Mirroring a trend away from same-old curries, the menu has been inspired by authentic street food of India.

You will be able to enjoy dishes such as Gol Gappa - puffed hollow pastry rounds filled with seasoned potatoes and chilled mint.

There's also Pav Bhaji, a typical Mumbai style anytime meal. It's a spicy blend of mashed vegetables with light battered toasted bun.

You can also enjoy classic favourites such as samosas, bhel puri and kebabs.

Exotic cocktails at Indico Street Kitchen

Fancy a Mango Martini? How about a Mumbai Mojito?

Explosive tropical flavours abound on the cocktail list. Nowehere more so than in the Mango Lassi Ta Ra Rum Pum (now breathe!)

Above all, you can taste real Indian Masala Chai, spiced tea which forms a big part of everyday street life in India.

Also on the menu are Indian beer, wine and mocktails.

Owner Mr Badur says:

“Eating out should be a fun experience with the best quality of food, service and ambience; what I am trying to recreate is a real sense of fun using the best of Indian culture, music, street food, street art and amazing cocktails ”.

Jonathan Cox, Head of Parkgate Shopping Centre said:

“We are very excited that the much anticipated opening of Indico is just a few weeks away. Visitors will be amazed to see how they have transformed the 1500 square foot unit. It’s a great addition to the centre and it’s sure to attract visitors from far and wide.”

Indico Street Kitchen has created 25 full and part time local jobs, is set to open on Thursday 24th November 2016.
