Birmingham Founders Launch 'Restaurant Revolution' with New Moseley Food Tour

Restaurant Touring Company urges Brummies to support their local independents: “If we don’t use it, we will lose it”

Zindiya, Tehran, Satori, Chakhana, Greek Aura and Cuban Embassy are among the independent Moseley restaurants joining a new neighbourhood food tour designed to put local hospitality firmly back on the menu.

Birmingham-based Restaurant Touring Company (RTC) is calling on local food lovers to get behind their neighbourhood restaurants with the launch of its first Moseley Neighbourhood Food Tour on Sunday 13th September 2026 – bringing together six independent restaurants for an afternoon of food, stories and local discovery.

The inaugural tour will visit Zindiya, Tehran, Satori, Chakhana, Greek Aura and Cuban Embassy, showcasing the breadth and diversity of Moseley’s independent food scene while encouraging diners to discover – and continue supporting – the businesses on their doorstep.

Founded by Harborne residents Del Gardner and Sarah Wagstaff, RTC has launched the initiative with a simple but powerful message: “If we don’t use it, we will lose it.”

With independent restaurants, cafés, bars and hospitality businesses continuing to face significant economic pressures, the pair believe that encouraging people to actively support their local food scene has never been more important.

“We walk past these venues every day and proudly tell friends and family from outside the area that Harborne is a fantastic foodie destination,” says Del Gardner. “But the reality is that unless we actively support these businesses, many simply won’t survive.

“Restaurants are closing at an alarming rate across the country, and our local independents need our support now more than ever. We wanted to create something positive that encourages people to get out, explore their own neighbourhood and discover the brilliant businesses that are right on their doorstep.”

Six restaurants. One neighbourhood. One big reason to get involved.

The Moseley tour will give guests the chance to experience signature dishes and drinks at a selection of independent venues, while meeting the people behind the businesses and hearing the stories that make each restaurant unique.

Taking part are:

Zindiya – A vibrant Indian restaurant serving small plates, curries, cocktails and its popular High Chai.

Tehran – A cosy Moseley restaurant offering Cuban-inspired plates and a selection of rum-based cocktails, accompanied by live music.

Satori – A refined Japanese restaurant blending traditional flavours with modern culinary techniques and beautifully presented dishes.

Chakhana – A vibrant restaurant celebrating authentic Indian cuisine, with bold flavours, fresh ingredients and traditional cooking.

Greek Aura – A welcoming Greek restaurant serving authentic Mediterranean flavours, from traditional favourites to freshly prepared dishes.

Cuban Embassy – An authentic Cuban restaurant bringing vibrant Cuban flavours, traditional dishes and a taste of the island’s rich culture to Moseley.

More than simply a food tour, RTC’s Neighbourhood Tours are designed to strengthen the relationship between local communities and the independent businesses that help give each area its character.

“People often don’t realise the challenges these businesses face,” explains Sarah Wagstaff. “Behind every independent restaurant is a story. There are families, chefs, entrepreneurs and teams who have invested everything into creating something special for their community.

“We want people to meet them, hear those stories and experience what makes their local food scene unique. We also want people to leave thinking, ‘I didn’t know this was here – I’m coming back.’”

RTC has taken inspiration from one of Britain’s most recognisable calls to action for its campaign, borrowing the spirit of Lord Kitchener’s iconic wartime recruitment poster to deliver a modern message to Birmingham’s food lovers: “YOUR LOCAL RESTAURANTS NEED YOU!”

The founders hope the campaign will encourage people to see dining locally as more than simply a meal out – but as a way of actively supporting the businesses, people and communities around them.

RTC are planning monthly Neighbourhood Food Tours rotating around Harborne, Moseley and Stirchley, shining a spotlight on Birmingham’s independent food scene and directing new and existing customers back through the doors of local businesses.
