Baresca’s bringing Tapas vibes to Birmingham with their new Sutton Coldfield opening

Nottingham’s much-loved neighbourhood tapas restaurant Baresca is bringing the tapas vibes to Birmingham with the opening of its newest restaurant this July.  

The new Sutton Coldfield venue marks the company’s third opening, continuing its expansion across the Midlands and welcoming even more guests into the ever-growing Baresca family.  

The story behind Baresca began in 2002, when brothers Jon and David Perkins returned from a trip to Barcelona inspired by the city's vibrant food culture, bustling tapas bars and sociable approach to dining. Determined to recreate that atmosphere closer to home, they opened Catalan-inspired Escabeche in West Bridgeford in 2010.  

Six years later, Baresca launched in Nottingham city centre, bringing its own take on authentic Spanish-inspired dining to the city. Since then, the restaurant has developed a loyal following and become a popular gathering place for friends, families and celebrations, known for its focus on the joy of sharing food and bringing people together.  

“We've never been in a rush to grow,” says Jon Perkins, Managing Director of Perkins Family Group. “For us, it's always been about finding the right location rather than opening more sites. After ten years of Baresca in Nottingham, we felt confident in what the brand stands for and the experience we deliver.

Guests can expect a relaxed, sociable dining experience built around flavour-packed tapas designed for sharing, bold flavours and a lively atmosphere. The menu is created for grazing and gathering, whether it’s a casual meal with friends or a family get-together, and includes signature dishes such as rotisserie chicken marinated for 24 hours before being slow-roasted on the spit, alongside seasonal specials inspired by the flavours of Spain. 

Baresca also offers a curated drinks list featuring cocktails, sangria and carefully selected wines, alongside friendly, knowledgeable service. On Friday evenings, guests can enjoy weekly Barcelona Beats vinyl DJ sessions.
