Birmingham isn't short of Italian restaurants. But how many can offer something more than just pizza and pasta?

Cucina Rustica is based on the edge of the Jewellery Quarter, with an extensive menu covering everything from steak to seafood. Read on to discover their five top seafood dishes.

1. Fritto Misto

To start, Cucina Rustica recommends the Fritto Misto. Hailing from Venice, this crispy appetiser showcases a combination of fresh fish and vegetable flavours.

Although this dish is usually served naked, or with just a squeeze of lemon, Cucina Rustica recommends you try their homemade sweet chilli dip.

2. Capesante

Delve into another delicious antipasto by ordering the flavour-bursting Capesante. This is a mouth-watering mix of gratinated king scallops, shrimp, parmesan, parsley and garlic butter.

It all comes beautifully presented in a shell. Perfect for sharing, although you might end up wanting it all for yourself!

3. Spaghetti Allo Scoglio

It's hard to go to an Italian restaurant and not look at the pasta at all. Unsurprisingly, one of Cucina Rustica's most popular dishes is the Spaghetti Allo Scoglio.

Expect a hearty blend of spaghetti, tomatoes, garlic and parsley - the perfect bed for juicy king prawns, calamari and mussels.

4. Branzino

Seabass is extremely popular on the Continent, and the Branzino dish shows us exactly why that is. The fish comes lightly seasoned with lemon, garlic, parsley and chilli, served on a bed of spaghetti.

Cucina Rustica recommends you wash this dish down with a large glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc. Salute!

5. Lobster Thermidor

Covered by a drizzling of creamy, cheese sauce, this succulent shellfish envelopes a ton of delightful flavours. But you have to be quick to catch this delight.

To ensure the freshness of their seafood, Cucina Rustica only serves the Lobster Thermidor a couple of times each week. Make sure you check the daily specials board to avoid missing out.
