Chef Ben Tesh and co-owner Lucy Hanlon have bought innovative and stylish food to Birmingham. Located just off of St Paul’s Square in the City Centre, modern British Restaurant Folium, guarantees an exceptional meal and experience.

While their menu is understated, it is not to be underestimated, as their meals are wonderfully simple in appearance, but bold and adventurous in taste and texture. Dining at Folium offers a relaxed atmosphere, fantastic service and delicious food and Folium’s customers have said it’s only a matter of time until the venue will gain a Michelin star.
They will have their set lunch menu, 5 and 7 course menu available and offering a complimentary glass of fizz to mothers when you purchase a 5 or 7 course tasting menu. With each meal presented beautifully and packed full of flavor, and an extra glass of fizz for her, you and mum are sure to have a wonderful dining experience here.
Gaucho’s new menu for 2019 showcases the best of Argentinian food and drink, it features Argentinian steaks, Latin American plates, fine wines and signature cocktails. They offer fine dining at a reasonable price with a la carte options, a set menu at two courses for £21 or three courses for £24.50 and their Sunday Roast menu will also be available if you and mum want a classic without the hassle of cooking it yourself.
Situated near Cathedral Square, you will find the restaurant within the buzz of the business district. It features sophisticated interiors, inspired by Argentina’s forests, and amazing ambience.
If your mum enjoys steak then Gaucho is definitely worth the visit, with extensive options of meat from premium Black Angus cattle and a vast amount of wine options to pair them with you will surely come away feeling full and satisfied.
Sky By The Water
If yours and mum’s taste is more to classic British and French cooking with refreshing twists, then Sky By The Water is the place to treat your mother to. This rooftop bar and restaurant offers a breathtaking interior, gorgeously plated dishes and original takes on well-loved dishes.
Their Sunday lunch menu offers 2 courses for £24.95 or 3 courses for £29.95. Their desserts are superb and not a course you should skip. Their menu features a wide range of delicious cocktails that you and mum can enjoy whilst enjoying the fabulous views from the floor to ceiling windows.
They’re also offering a show stopping Afternoon Tea from their pastry team, headed by Darryl Collins (finalist on Channel 4’s Bake Off: The Professionals). Tickets are fully booked for the 31st however there are other days and dates still available if you fancy doing something with mum on Saturday instead!
Each dish is thoughtfully presented, bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. You and mum will certainly be impressed with this restaurant.
Simpson’s offers exquisitely presented food, a relaxed atmosphere and elegant surroundings. They have set menu prices with their lunch menu offering 3 courses for £45, fantastic value for money for a Michelin starred restaurant.

If you’re looking for authentic Indian cuisine, impressive décor and superbly plated dishes, Varanasi is the place to treat your mother to. The second you enter the restaurant the regal surroundings will make you forget that you are on Broad Street and will transport you to a grand Indian palace.
They offer a fabulous a la carte menu, with a constantly evolving menu expect distinct flavours, some classics and new spins on older dishes. Varanasi is Birmingham’s largest restaurant, it seats 350 people over three floors with several private dining rooms and 3 cocktail bars, however, the space still maintains the feeling of intimacy, so there’s no need to worry about the other guests around you.
