Top chefs reveal tips for Birmingham Food Fest 2012

As Birmingham Food Fest returns for a second year, the city's culinary elite have created a series of short videos letting foodies into a few of their secrets in the kitchen. Some of Birmingham's top venues are represented, including the celebrated Indian restaurant Lasan, the jazz-themed Jam House and the Michelin-starred Purnell's.

A host of different events are planned for the festival, which will run from 13 – 19 July this year. The event organisers hope to build on Birmingham's growing reputation as a gourmet capital, which has attracted international attention over the previous months.

This year, two other food events will also be added into the mix: The CBD Food Festival (13-14 July at Victoria Square) and the Birmingham Chilli Festival (13-14 July at Brindleyplace).

Birmingham Food Fest 2012 is being managed by Visit Birmingham. Their representative, Emma Grey, said:

"Last year's Food Fest really helped put Birmingham on the map as a culinary destination and a haven for food lovers.

"The festival saw 70,000 visitors descend on the city to sample our gastronomic delights, attracting nearly £1 million of media coverage and plaudits from influential international titles such as The New York Times, which named Birmingham number 19 in its '2012 must-see destinations' shortlist due to its foodie credentials."

The ‘Recipes and Cooking Tips' series adds a new dimension to the array of tastings, workshops and special events planned. By following the expert advice, food lovers can cook up their own taste of Birmingham after the festival has reached its end.
