Top 5 Places to Celebrate International Beer Day 2021 in Birmingham

Thank God It’s Friday, and today it’s even better, as it’s the 6^th August and that means it’s International Beer Day. Restrictions have been lifted just in time and now it’s time to head out to the best beer bars in Birmingham.

These bars are filled with an incredible range of beers from local breweries and other countries!

Roberto's Bar

Roberto’s Bar and Tasting Club is the ideal place to find your new favourite beer, with the bar being ran by beer connoisseur, Roberto Ross. Roberto’s is located in the artistic district of Digbeth, just outside of the city centre, you must pop in for a pint, or two.

With a love for Belgium beers and finding the best beers in the world, Roberto’s update their beer list regularly, adding and trying as many brands on draught and into the fridge.

One of the local beers on draught this week is Foam Party, brewed by the Green Duck Beer Company in Stourbridge, a pale ale with a crisp, clean malt profile, backed up by the fruitiness from Kveik yeast. Also there’s Petrus Aged Ale, all the way from Bavikhove in Belgium and aged for 24 months to make the award-winning, uncut taste for the beer.

The Wellington

The Wellington on Bennetts Hill is a popular choice in Birmingham and is packed full of beer lovers, especially on their stunning roof terrace, which is even better on a warm, sunny day!

A perfect choice for International Beer Day, The Wellington are the proud owners of a whopping 27 hand pulls, including 8 regular beers and 6 keg beers, and to keep things interesting for customers they also have 9 guest beers which change regularly.

Some of the regulars include Froth Blowers’ Piffle Snonker, a light beer brewed north of Birmingham, and a Wellington staple since 2011, Oakham’s Citra, a beer with citrus and tropical flavours. Owned by the Black Country Inns, The Wellington has three of the Black Country brewery’s traditional ales, BFG, Pig on the Wall and Fireside.

The Prince of Wales

The Prince Of Wales in Moseley is an inclusive pub with a unique atmosphere as there is something here for everyone. The Prince has the Shed du Vin (the wine bar), the Mo-Tiki bar, the Cocktail bar and, of course, where the beer is, the Front bar.

The Front bar holds a traditional feel giving a warm atmosphere from the moment you enter the pub. It’s the heart of the Prince of Wales, having been part of the pub for over 100 years.

There’s ten hand pulls which hold a variety of great beers. Purity’s Mad Goose and Birmingham Brewing Co.’s Gold Brummie are a couple of the beautifully brewed pale ales. One of the house options also includes Oakham’s Bishop’s Farewell, a gorgeous golden ale.

Bacchus Bar

Bacchus Bar in Birmingham is a Nicholson’s Pub, famous for its draught and bottled cask ale. In the heart of Birmingham, Bacchus Bar is easy to find and in a perfect location to pop into while having a day out in the city centre.

This is an original spot to visit, located on one of the oldest streets in the centre, and host to many themed rooms to dine in, including their Egyptian room, French dining room and their medieval bars.

They have a great selection of craft ales to have in their medieval room, to stick to the theme obviously. The Nicholson’s own classic ale is brewed by St Austell Brewery in Cornwall; this beer has been in all Nicholson’s pubs since 2012 and is perfectly balanced using fine pale malts as the base. Bacchus Bar is the idyllic Birmingham location to trial this Cornish-brewed beer on International Beer Day!

Purecraft Bar & Kitchen

Purecraft Bar & Kitchen is the final pick for the list. This edgy, rustic bar opened in 2014 and has a passion for great food and even better beer!

Purecraft have an amazing, top-quality beer range from all around the globe and from Purity Brewing Company. On draught, there’s 16 craft beers and 8 cask beers, alongside 60 different types of bottled craft beer.

From Purity Brewing Company, they have the cask Bunny Hop, which is a beautiful pale ale and also naturally gluten free and vegan, the Pure Gold, a classic golden cask ale with a dry, bitter finish, and the cask ale called Jimbo is a bitter brewed ale, created in memory of Purity co-founder, Jim, of which for every pint 5p goes to cancer research.

Purecraft is a positive and friendly bar to visit in Birmingham and has an enticing, welcoming atmosphere.
