Step behind the bar at one of Birmingham's top independent cafes

Six Eight Kafe, Birmingham recently celebrated its 1st birthday; champagne, canapes and - naturally - coffee, marked twelve months since the establishment of one of the city's original independent cafes.

A few months after its opening, we went to meet Devinder Dhallu, the proprietor of Six Eight Kafe, to learn what makes the cafe special. He wanted to create a creative atmosphere where music and the arts could flourish, alongside the enjoyment of superior quality coffee.

Fast forward to the present, and Six Eight seems to be fulfilling its original vision. Despite its unobtrusive location in Temple Row, it regularly attracts local photographers and musicians to share their art, to say nothing of the patrons who come to get their fix of the sacred bean.
