Simpsons and Carters join businesses in fight against breast cancer

A host of Birmingham restaurants including Simpsons (team pictured above) and Carters of Moseley have teamed up with a local charity to support and promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout October, businesses will help raise money for Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer's #1millionappeal for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.  

From Wednesday 1 October, restaurants across the region will take part in the charity's Restaurant Giving initiative. Taking place for the first time, this will see restaurants including Simpsons, Carters of Moseley, The Plough Harborne, Henry Wong Harborne, The Talbot Belbroughton, The Old Crown Digbeth and Yum Yums offer customers the chance to add £1 to their bill, which will go directly to the charity.

As well as donations, restaurants will raise awareness of the disease and provide leaflets showing their customers how to self examine. Additional restaurants supporting the charity include The New Inn Harborne, Le Monde, Jimmy Spices and The Lovely Pubs Group.

The charity is also giving people the chance to do their own fundraising by hosting 2 Cups, a cup of tea and cupcake morning. Businesses will be signing up to put on their own 2 Cups events during October.

Veronica Kumeta, Co-Founder and Trustee of Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer, said:

_"We spend the entire year fundraising but October really is our chance to make a big impact and increase donations. It's fantastic to see such a variety of businesses showing their support; we know that there are a lot of charities to choose from but we pride ourselves on being run solely by volunteers, which means that the maximum amount of money goes towards helping and improving patient care. _

"LFBC is the UK's only regional charity for Breast Cancer and every single penny raised stays in the region. It goes directly to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, whom we're working with on our current £1 Million Appeal." 

Other organisations taking part in the charity drive range from Birmingham City Council and Bullring, to Harrison Clark Rickerbys inc K&M Family Law.
