So here's what you need to know about the paint party this Saturday for Holi in Birmingham…

1. Holi is an Indian celebration to welcome the spring

The spraying of colour powder is a mark of joy and excitement. It's one of India's most vibrant traditions and it will be recreated at the event this Saturday.

2. The paint-throwing will happen 5 times

At 2-hour intervals this Saturday, the main party room will explode with a burst of colours as people start to paint-bomb each other!

It happens at 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm and 10pm, so you probably won't miss it!

But if you want to avoid it, you can step out of the room at those times and investigate the street food, the face-painting or the henna intead.

3. The paint powder is totally washable

If you do want to wear that top again, you probably can!

The paint is ‘biodegradable and easy clean' according to the official event website.

Worried about allergies or toxins? Don't be.

The official event website reassures us that the powder ‘avoids allergy reactions and can be ingested without problems'

What's more, the paint powder they'll be using was manufactured in the USA for the express purpose of being hurled joyfully at other people. (Sounds like a fun factory to work in)

5. There's going to be a LOT of food (not at the same time as the paint though)

This is the Indian Street Food Feast-ival, after all.
