As part of the wider Holi Rave by event company Shaanti on 21 March, visitors will have the chance to sample  gourmet bites from a selection of street food vendors, while local restaurants will showcase their menus with pop-up stalls.

Treats and delicacies from the Indian subcontinent on offer will include shahi chicken in tandoor, jalebi, seekh kebabs and malai tikka.

Manga Singh, MD of Taste and Liquor and founder of the street food festival, said:

"For us it's an honour to launch with Shaanti's second festival Holi Rave –they're unique and you know they're going to put on an incredible event. Combining their love for music with our love for food gives the public a great way to try lots of different world flavours and sounds without having to leave Birmingham."

A whole array of singers, dancers and DJs will provide entertainment. These include My Panda Shall Fly, Surinder Rattan and Ministry of Dhol.

Holi in Birmingham, as in India, will also be marked at the event with the renowned colour powder celebrations, as well as face-painting and henna tattoos.

Organisers are on the lookout for local businesses who wish to get involved:

"Indian Street Food FEAST-ival also provides an opportunity for start-ups and small businesses to get out there and give it a go – without any overheads. It's important to support local chefs and produce – it's an ideal setting to engage with new customers face to face and introduce new and exciting dishes from Bombay to Calcutta, from Lahore to Birmingham."

Shaanti's Holi Rave and Indian Street Food FEAST-ival takes place on Saturday 21 March at Amusement 13 from 12.00pm to 2.00am
