Birmingham venue named UK Restaurant of the Year 2015

Fumo Birmingham has won ‘Restaurant of the Year' in the 2015 UK and Ireland Les Routiers Awards.

The chic restaurant and bar in Waterloo Street, owned by San Carlo Group, was recognised for consistently meeting and exceeding the Les Routiers' membership standards.

Judges also highlighted Fumo's overall outstanding performance, as well as excellent customer feedback and reviews.

Les Routiers is a worldwide travel brand that recommends quality independent restaurants and hotels across the UK and Ireland.

Tina Griffiths, Customer Service Executive at Les Routiers UK and Ireland, said:

"Les Routiers acknowledges establishments which share a sense of individuality that sets them apart from global chains. Our annual awards are an opportunity to champion restaurants, such as Fumo Birmingham, that are well-managed, offer exceptional food and immpecable service."

Carlo Distefano is chairman of the San Carlo Group, which was founded in Birmingham with the opening of San Carlo in Temple Street in 1992.

He had this to say:

"We are delighted with this latest award for Fumo Birmingham - and we received the news on the day we opened our second Fumo at One St Peter's Square, Manchester, so a fantastic 24 hours!"

Fumo launched in Birmingham city centre in June 2012 and serves cicchetti - small dishes of Venetian tapas - and cocktails everyday from 11.30am until late.
