New service delivers quality restaurant food to your door

Deliveroo Birmingham launched on 1 April, promising to bring 'the food you love, delivered to your door.'

Many popular independent restaurants are already signed up to the scheme, including The Warehouse Cafe, Chung Ying, and Bun and Bowl.

For a £2.50 charge, the company will pick up your order from the venue and bring it to you where you are.

Jacob Lourie, regional manager, said:

"We want to bring quality dining to people's homes and offices. And we want to give people more options in the takeaway market.

"It also helps to raise the profile of Birmingham independents."

Deliveroo has already proved popular in London, where the service sees an average of 3,000 orders made every night.

It effectively enables all restaurants to provide a delivery service, meaning a greasy takeaway is no longer the only option for home diners.

Investors awarded the company £17 million in January 2015 to take the concept to other cities both in the UK and abroad.

In Birmingham, the app has already gathered support from a diverse range of nearly twenty city centre restaurants.

Among them are Nepalese restaurant Jojolapa, Polish eatery The Karczma and Indian burrito company Wrapchic.

All Greek Delicatessen and Middle-Eastern restaurant Syriana are also on board, adding to the culinary variety on offer.

Crucially, many are located within easy distance of businesses and professional centres.

As regional manager Jacob Lourie explained, the service is ideal for office workers:

"If people are working late or haven't brought their lunch, there's no need to order a takeaway pizza now. You can get quality cuisine from a decent restaurant sent straight to the office."

Delivery is available to both homes and workplaces within a 2km radius of each venue.

Over the coming weeks, the company will be expanding its reach, and continuing to recruit new restaurants and delivery staff in Birmingham.
