16 October 2026

A new cocktail bar has arrived in Kings Heath, bringing creative drinks, hip hop and a distinctive edge to Birmingham’s independent bar scene.

Snake Oil opens today in Kings Heath, promising a relaxed atmosphere, an edgy interior and a cocktail menu packed with inventive twists on classic favourites.

The new venture comes from Matt Wilden, owner and chef of popular Mexican restaurant PERRO. The drinks menu has been created in collaboration with Katie Rouse of Couch, the award-winning Birmingham cocktail bar, bringing a fresh approach to the neighbourhood’s nightlife scene.

Cocktail lovers can look forward to an intriguing line-up of signature serves, including the Snake Oil Daiquiri, Spicy As Fuck Margarita, Tonka Bean Boulevardier and Salty Scotch Old Fashioned, alongside a selection of classic cocktails.

There’s more to Snake Oil than what’s in the glass, too. Hip hop will provide the soundtrack throughout the week, with DJs taking over on selected nights. Visitors can also expect snacks from the PERRO team on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a promising new spot for a casual drink that turns into a night out.

With its bold cocktail menu, music-led atmosphere and distinctive character, Snake Oil looks set to bring something different to Kings Heath’s growing food and drink scene.

Looking for your next night-out destination? Snake Oil could be one to add to your list.
