Best Places in Birmingham for Pancakes

3 March 2025

Pancake Day is just around the corner on 4th March and it’s the perfect excuse to indulge in one of our favourite treats! Our love for pancakes dates back to the Romans in the 1st century AD, and even Shakespeare had a soft spot for them, featuring pancakes in several of his plays.

Whether you prefer fluffy American-style pancakes or delicate French crêpes, Birmingham has a fantastic array of restaurants and cafés ready to serve you these delightful pan-fried creations. Check out our round-up to find the perfect spot to celebrate Pancake Day this year.

House of Chaii

If you’re searching for pancake perfection, look no further than House of Chaii. Often described as ‘pancake heaven,’ this delightful eatery serves up stacks of fluffy pancakes that are simply irresistible.

Indulge in their buttery stacked pancakes, complete with a selection of fresh berries and drizzled with Biscoff syrup for a sweet finish. For a richer experience, try the Four Stack Pancakes, a warm dessert served with fresh fruit. Topped with creamy pistachio sauce and crushed pistachios, these pancakes are a delightful treat.

Cherry Reds

A fan favourite, Cherry Reds know a thing or two about pancakes. Choose from a selection of American-style pancakes including Blueberry Cheesecake, Fried Chicken and Banana Hot Chocolate Fudge.

For those avoiding dairy or on a vegan diet, a selection of their pancakes can be adjusted accordingly.

Ju Ju's Cafe

Famous for their stacked pancakes with indulgent toppings, Ju Ju’s Cafe is a must-visit spot located along the canal. Enjoy a lovely stroll by the water (weather permitting) and treat yourself to a delicious stack of American pancakes.

Choose from delightful options like Banana & Salted Caramel pancakes, featuring fresh banana and salted caramel syrup, or the Very Berry Pancakes, topped with homemade berry compote and syrup. For those who prefer savoury, the Crispy Bacon and Syrup Pancakes, with crispy bacon and ‘lashings of syrup,’ are a perfect choice.

Whether you crave something sweet or savoury, Ju Ju’s has the perfect pancakes to satisfy every palate.

Wayland's Yard

When it comes to pancakes, there’s no stack quite like Wayland’s Yard! Renowned for their incredible pancake creations, this eatery offers a variety that caters to every taste.

Gaucho

Gaucho Birmingham Pancakes

Gaucho may be a steak restaurant, but that won’t stop them from celebrating pancake day like the rest of us! This year, they’ve challenged their head chefs to create their very own unique pancake recipe, which will be served in all of their restaurants – including Birmingham.

Gaucho invites you to ‘turn up and find out what flavour they’ll be serving’, so we can’t tell you what exactly the pancakes will be, but we can bet they’ll be delicious!
