You must have been living in outer Mongolia (or somewhere far beyond Spaghetti junction) if you've failed to notice the crop of new Birmingham restaurants that have sprung up at Spiceal Street just outside the Bullring, in time for the Christmas shopping season.

Just in case you haven't made it yet, have a look at the short video above for a virtual tour of the plush new development.

We've visited Browns Bar and Brasserie, Chao Baby and handmade burger Co already. The new arrivals offer a spread of different cuisines, from classic through Thai to gourmet burgers. Opening hours have been set late, so shoppers in the city centre have somewhere to rest their feet and fill up after a busy day of shopping.

Those of an artistic bent will also have noticed the striking new public art commission that was unveiled along with the restaurants at the official launch. ‘Timbre' was created by Wolfgang Buttress using reclaimed copper from the relocated Spiral Café. Keep your eyes out for this, as well as a wall feature and water installation, featuring the poetry of two local artists.

For more information about Spiceal Street and to find out how to book a table at one of the new restaurants visit www.browsebullring.co.uk
