31 NEW OPENINGS IN 2021!

It's officially Summer and now it's time to get all excited about all the the new bars, restaurants and hotels opening in Birmingham this year.

Check back every day as we unveil the list daily one by one

#1 The Ark

A new Indian and cocktail bar on John Bright Street opposite Turtle Bay. Looks like a nice place to go for your usual curry favourites, set over two floors, it has a bar, a main dining area, private dining and a nightclub on the second floor. Don't ask me who built it 😉

#2  Domo Hotel

A fabulous new boutique hotel opening in late May for leisure and business travellers with 5 stylish suites to choose from. Oozing a huge amount of style and personality this is small but perfect.

#3 Grounded Kitchen

A new eatery in Moseley Village opened yesterday serving delicious Korean inspired, nutritious Buddha bowls.

We loved the Korean inspired decor complete with blossom tree, clean lines, neutral benches and foliage. The food smells delicious and it's really fresh, healthy and looks like sunshine on a plate!

We tried the Buldak Fire Chicken ‘Bul’ meaning Fire and ‘Dak’ meaning chicken - inspired by Korean buldak trucks selling this incredible street dish. The rice base comes with spinach, Korean kimchi, sweet potato, carrots, beetroot, peppers, avocado, fresh chilli, lime, coriander and spring onions.

Our other choice was the Sizzling Gochujang Prawns - their secret blend using Korean red chillies made with rice, spinach, carrots, beetroot, peppers, avocado, fresh chilli, lime, coriander and spring onions and served with Korean Kimchi.

Next time we're going to try the Bulgogi Chicken. Looked yummy.

A fun do-it-yourself dining experience will be joining The Arcadian. Here at Happy Lamb Hot Pot, you can pick a broth of your choice with a selection of meats or vegetables to dip into it. Thinly sliced or hand-cut variable lamb or beef are delicately presented, homemade prawn paste and BBQ lamb skewers are "must-order" dishes. Also, other seafood, vegetable and noodle platters are always good alongside the broth.

#6 Kouzina in Selfridges

A Greek-inspired street food company will be launching a brand new 50 cover restaurant at Selfridges once lockdown restrictions on hospitality are lifted.

From Street Kitchen Brothers, a West Midlands-based Greek-Cypriot family run business, Kouzina will be the first eatery to serve authentic Greek food at the iconic department store.

We will be able to indulge in Greek Mezze cuisine – including their famous moussaka (as seen on The Hairy Bikers show) souvlaki, stifado, and a range of traditional sweet treats from the Greek Bakery such as baklava and kadaifi!

The restaurant will launch with a click and collect offer until government guidelines allow for indoor hospitality, when customers will be welcomed in for all-day dining.

Paul Polyviou and Chris Butcher, owners of Street Kitchen Brothers, stated: “We’re incredibly excited to be bringing Kouzina to the Selfridges store. Opening a restaurant in Birmingham is something that we have always aspired to do and this has provided us with the perfect opportunity to take our business to the next level. We are extremely passionate about food and we do everything with our customers in mind. We’re absolutely thrilled to finally bring a taste of Greece and Cyprus to the city with our street food and taverna favourites”
