Spring is approaching so here are a few new bars and restaurants for you to enjoy

Coronavirus threw many curveballs at Birmingham’s hospitality sector in 2020, with many launches being postponed and rearranged. But lockdown is slowly lifting so it’s time to look forward to all the exciting bars and restaurants opening around Solihull and Knowle in the coming months!

1. Ale Hub Micropub

A brand new pub has come to Longmore Road in Shirley. It's a brand new sister micropub of The Ale Hub in Dickens Heath which opened last year. It’s small but offers great cask ales, craft ales and a great selection of gin.

2. Cote Brasserie

The French brasserie chain has opened up yet another restaurant in Birmingham, this time in Solihull. A beautiful restaurant inspired by the brasseries and bistros of Paris, championing relaxed all-day dining and serving authentic French classics.

3. Loki Wine and Deli

A prominent feature in our Guide to Edgbaston, Loki Wine and Deli is expanding to Knowle. Having already made its mark in Edgbaston and the city centre, Knowle will also be able to showcase the fine wines and deli favourites Loki is renowned for. We're hoping wine and cheese tastings will also be included!

4. The Funky Bear

Bringing Gastro delights to Sutton Coldfield since 2017, The Funky Bear is rumoured to be expanding to Solihull. Whether you fancy their succulent Sunday roast or the Belly Breaker, you’ll soon have 2 venues to choose from.

5. Little Dessert Shop

6. Dirty Wild Wings

7. Glyn

6. Las Iguanas

Your 2021 wishes have come true…yet another Las Iguanas is opening in Brindleyplace this year! Devour the classic Dadinhos and sip on a carefully crafted cocktail, while enjoying the new venue the new year has to offer.

Brindleyplace will be welcoming back guests from Monday 12th April for outdoor dining only.

7. Estado da India

The Lasan Group have just unveiled their latest venture in Harborne. Estado da India will offer a fusion of Portuguese Indian cuisine. The Luso-Indian heritage is a product of the explorative nature that led to Portugal and India’s intertwining since 1505. It promises to 'excite the adventurers in all of us'.

9. Lucarelli Restaurant

From West Brom to central Brum, Lucarelli joined the Mailbox family in December 2020. However, the highly anticipated terrace will be unveiled this year, equipped with everything you need to welcome the warmer months. Paying homage to authentic Italian cuisine, you can expect passion, pasta and of course, prosecco - what’s not to love?

10. North Fish

Renowned Polish-based restaurant, North Fish, has been planning its first UK opening for some time now. Choosing the Birmingham Bullring for its big arrival, North Fish had hoped to begin serving its Norwegian-inspired seafood late last year, so we are eagerly awaiting further details!

11. Perios

A fiesta of tex-mex flavours is coming to Brindleyplace and Resorts World. Perios has plans to expand upon their Shirley location, and move closer to the city centre! We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the new opening, so you can get your fix of hearty chicken fajitas, San Antonio beef tacos and much more!

12. Qavali

A fine dining concept offering dishes from across the Persian Empire is set to open at Brindleyplace this year. Qavali, named after a style of Sufi devotional singing and originating from the Arabic word qual meaning “to speak”, will offer a range of dishes inspired by Turkish, Arabic, Persian and Indian cuisine. The restaurant will open in the space previously occupied by Coast to Coast on the corner of Broad Street and Oozells Square.

The menu will be full of rich new dishes, which have been inspired by a diverse region, which for many remains relatively unexplored in terms of cuisine. Qavali will provide a high-dining experience within an environment to match and will help further broaden the horizons of future guests.

13. Rosa's Thai Cafe

Paradise development is attracting many great brands, such as Dishoom and Vinoteca, with plans to welcome Rosa’s Thai Café this year. This third location will continue to take inspiration from the founder’s memories of Northern Thailand, bringing Brum many authentic delicacies.

14. Seoul Kitchen

The Korean BBQ takes over the former Natural Bar & Kitchen on Suffolk Street. A fun environment where diners are entertained by the chefs on their grills in the centre of the restaurant, a new dining experience to join the fun Birmingham eatery scene.

15. Stu Deeley's Restaurant

Winner of MasterChef UK: The Professionals 2019, former chef at The Wilderness and current chef at Simpsons Restaurant, Stu Deeley, is set to take centre stage this year with his very own restaurant. The new eatery will be based in Edgbaston and will showcase a variety of MasterChef favourites, from pork belly to miso cheesecake!

17. The Grand Hotel

The Grand Hotel had grand plans of relaunching the Birmingham landmark (Colmore Row) in November last year, but coronavirus had different ideas. 2021 will see the unveiling of the hotel, as well as the opening of the exclusive restaurant and Madelaine Bar.

18. Tom Shepherd's Restaurant

Having departed Adam’s Restaurant almost a year ago to embark on a new adventure, Tom Shepherd has clarified his plans to open his own restaurant in Lichfield. We’re yet to find out a name and a specific time frame, but we know that once it’s safe to do so, the restaurant will be making its debut.

19. Tonight Josephine

Party with Josephine down on Stephenson Street! She is gagging for a Razzle Dazzle and who are we to take that away from her. It seems her number 1 babe Bo Jo is missing a night out too; we knew he wouldn’t last long before the craving for a bottomless brunch got on top.

20. Vietnamese Street Kitchen

Once again, Coronavirus had different plans for the hospitality industry and postponed VSK's move from Brindleyplace to the Bullring. But with a heated outdoor terrace, a cocktail bar and a spacious restaurant, we’re certain that the reopening will be a success.

21. Vinoteca

Opening in its first venue outside of London, Vinoteca is soon to land in Chamberlain Square. Taking inspiration from its Spanish and Italian roots, the restaurant and bar will offer over 200 wines to choose from, to complement their delicious dishes. Keep an eye out for further updates!
